Cave Printing Tutorial

Step 5: Adjust and Edit your image

Now it's time to edit your image. This tutorial won't go into the specifics of how to edit your image, however, you should be aware of some of the more powerful/popular tools in Photoshop. Many of these tools can be found in the "Image--->Adjustments" menu. Levels, Curves, and Hue/Saturation are all very powerful, but also a bit more advanced. For beginners, you may wish to stick with "Auto Levels," which tries to set color and contrast levels at an acceptable, arbitrary level. Auto Levels generally does a good job "fixing" your image two thirds of the time.

Also remember to save your work OFTEN. There is no "auto save" feature in Photoshop, so if the computer crashes, you could lose work you have done. You will want to save your image file as a Photoshop document (has the file extension .psd). Saving as a Photoshop document will ensure that there is no compression applied to your imagery, and that your layers will remain intact (if you have layers).
