Finger Joint Box 4

Back to main CNC page
I used the same CNC operations on the box below that I used on this page Making finger jointed boxes #2.

Here's a small finger jointed box measuring 6.5" long x 3.5" wide x 2.5" high. The text was engraved using a 1/32" ball nose bit. The hinge was made from scratch using copper tubing and .25" wide brass strips. I used a walnut stain to give the box a darker patina. Poplar does not stain well, so the walnut just filled in some of the cracks and made the box just a bit darker and rustic looking. I dripped the walnut stain down into the text engraving to make the text darker.

The lid was cut from a .75" thick piece of Poplar using several machine operations to get the one piece shape.
