This is a automobile windshield holder for my handheld Garmin map76CS GPS. I am getting ready to go out to Utah on vacation and I needed to have my GPS in the rental car hooked to my Notebook computer I looked around a few stores and could not find exactly what I wanted in a GPS holder and so I decided to make one. I was able to find a cool suction cup device pretty cheap at one store and so I built my GPS holder to fit onto the ball socket of the GPS suction cup device. The ball socket lets you swivel the GPS to the perfect viewing angle and then you can lock it down with a wing nut. You place the rubber part against the windshield and then flip a lever. The suction cup device grabs hold of the windshield very securely. My GPS has rubber strips on it's side that grip onto the HDPE uprights and keep it from falling out of the holder. |

The clear material is Lexan. The white material is HDPE. The screws are all stainless. The round hole on the back is for the ball socket on the windshield suction cup device shown below. If you tighten down the wing nut, it clamps down on the ball to lock the position. The curved relief in the Lexan is where a USB cord goes. I can hook the GPS to my notebook computer via a USB cable and it will do Moving map navigation using custom maps. |
