Pali Ballaleshwar is one of the
Ashta Vinayaka temples. The legends of Sri Ganesha are mentioned in
Ganesha Purana and
Mudgala Purana.

Sri Ganesha saving devotee Ballala: According to legend, Sri Ganesha saved His boy-devotee Ballala, when he was severely beaten up by his father and tied to a tree, for being engrossed in the worship of Lord Ganesha along with his friends. On the request of Ballala, Sri Ganesha permanently stayed there as Sri Ballala Vinayaka or Sri Ballaleshwar.
