Somnath

• Meditation: I meditate on the penance of Chandra deva at Prabhasa Kshetra worshipping Lord Shiva with Mrityunjaya Mantra with a still mind; and appearance of Lord Shiva (Somnath) to relieve him from his curse.

• Somnath Jyotirlinga: Somnath temple of Saurashtra is a Jyotirlinga identified with the Somanatha Jyotirlinga mentioned in Shiva Purana - Koti Rudra Samhita 14.

• Worship of Lord Shiva by Chandra deva: Prabhasa Kshetra is the place where Chandra deva worshipped Lord Shiva to get rid of his disease of consumption due to a curse by Daksha. Lord Shiva appeared before Chandra deva and relieved him of his curse. On the request of the devas Lord Shiva abided there as the Somnath Jyotirlinga. (Shiva Purana - Koti Rudra Samhita 14)

• Somnath temple is located in the Gir Somnath district of Gujarat.
