Thaipusam:
Thaipusam is a South Indian festival day which commemorates the occasion when Devi Parvati gave
Murugan the Vel (Spear) to vanquish demon Soorapadman. Thaipusam falls on the day when the
Pusam nakshatra is in ascendency on Poornima day in the Tamil month of Thai.
