Misc. Info: Tabla maestro Prashant Kocherlakota, a former professor of Tabla at the Univ. of Pennsylvania, is the dis­ciple and only son of Pt. K. Paramjyoti. Prashant plays in the trad­itional Farukkabad Gharana and Ajrada as well, but is know for his Purab style. Known for his success in teach­ing the in the trad­itional Guru-sishya parampara, he hails from the disciplinary lineage of Ustad Amir Hussain Khan, who was Prashant's father's own master, and Ustad Ahmedjan Thirakwa. Prashant has accom­panied most of India's greatest master mus­icians and has been awarded two National awards. He specializes in teach­ing accom­pani­ment for vocal and instru­mental and Tabla solo play­ing.
