Portret van Jan Kobell (II), schilder, in het uniform van een lid van het Koninklijk Instituut van Wetenschappen, Letterkunde en Schoone Kunsten. De schilder is voorgesteld zittend in een stoel met een tekening in de hand, voor een ezel waarop een schilderij van een landschap met grazend vee staat. Op de tekening staat dezelfde voorstelling als op het schilderij.
