Description

Apollo geeft zijn kind Asclepius, dat hij uit Coronis' buik heeft gesneden nadat hij haar doodgeschoten had, aan de centaur Chiron. Op de achtergrond is te zien hoe de dochter van Chiron in een paard verandert, na voorspeld te hebben hoe de toekomst van Asclepius en haar vader zal zijn. Onder de voorstelling twee keer twee regels Latijnse tekst. Deze prent is onderdeel van een serie van 52 prenten die verhalen uit Ovidius' Metamorfosen verbeelden. Deze serie valt uiteen in drie genummerde reeksen: twee van 20 prenten en één van 12 prenten. Deze prent behoort tot de tweede reeks.
