Justice is primal love. More significant is the phrase, abandon all hope ye who enter here, but it is often misquoted. Dante envisioned that hope could not save you, only God’s love can save you. Those in hell can leave by God’s grace whenever they want. But they don’t out of pride and self-righteousness. In this instance Dante’s hell is a metaphor for our own lives and the hell we make of heaven.
