The Aurelian Wall, Rome
Ramsay Richard Reinagle
The view shown here is from the northern end of the Pincian Hill looking across the walls of Rome towards the south-east. Beyond the grounds of the Villa Borghese are a section of the Aurelian Wall and the umbrella pines of the Villa Ludovisi. The sketch may be a preparatory study for the panorama of Rome which Reinagle exhibited in London.
