Sri Rama visiting Agastya Ashrama

(Ref: Valmiki Ramayana - Aranya Kanda - 11 to 13)

• Meditation: I meditate on Sri Rama visiting the Agastya Ashrama in the Dandakaranya forest.

• Events:
1. Sri Rama reaching the precincts of Agastya Ashrama: Sri Rama reaches the precincts of the hermitage of sage Agastya (Valmiki Ramayana - Aranya Kanda - 11).

2. Sri Rama visiting Agastya Ashrama: Sri Rama visits Agastya Ashrama. The sage was also yearning to see him and welcomes him cordially (Valmiki Ramayana - Aranya Kanda - 12).

3. Sri Rama receiving divine weapons: Sage Agastya gives Sri Rama a bow of Vishnu, arrows of Brahma and the sword of Indra (Valmiki Ramayana - Aranya Kanda - 12).

4. Sage Agastya praising Devi Sita: Sage Agastya praises Devi Sita for her devotion to her husband, and not leaving him during the time of ill-fortune (Valmiki Ramayana - Aranya Kanda - 13).

5. Sri Rama asking for a place of stay: Sri Rama asks for a place of stay in the forest. Sage Agastya suggests Panchavati which is two yojanas from there (Valmiki Ramayana - Aranya Kanda - 13).

• Pilgrimage: Agastya Ashrama is situated in Bhandardara, a beautiful hill-station on the Sahyadri Hills in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. It is around 185 km from Mumbai and 80 km from Nashik.
