Kurukshetra is an ancient pilgrimage mentioned in the puranas. It is in Kurukshetra that the great battle of Mahabharata was fought between the Pandavas and the Kauravas. It is here that Sri Krishna delivered the great sermon of Bhagavad Gita to mankind. Kurukshetra is also a Shakti Peetha mentioned in the Peetha Nirnaya texts.
