Theka and Lahara in Tintal

This is a two-CD set of music to help you in your kathak practice. This contains a repetitive melody known variously as “lahara” or “nagma”, set against the basic supportive pattern of the tabla theka. This may be seen as similar to practising with a metronome except for several important distinctions:
- It helps you get a feel for the theka of the tabla.
- It gets you accustomed to listening to the lahara (nagma). Understanding the lahara is critical to any stage performance.
- It is a lot more fun! Let’s face it, it is always a lot more fun to dance to some real music instead of a mechanical gizmo like a metronome, taalmala, or lahara peti.
