Misc. Info: Tabla maestro Prashant Kocherlakota, a former professor of tabla at the Univ. of Pennsylvania, is the disciple and only son of Pt. K. Paramjyoti. Prashant plays in the traditional Farukkabad Gharana and Ajrada as well, but is known for his Purab style. Known for his success in teaching the in the traditional guru-sishya parampara, he hails from the disciplinary lineage of Ustad Amir Hussain Khan, who was Prashant’s father’s own master, and Ustad Ahmedjan Thirakwa. Prashant has accompanied most of India’s greatest master musicians and has been awarded two National awards. He specializes in teaching accompaniment for vocal and instrumental and tabla solo playing.
