Her mother and tea­cher, Kantesh­wari Mathur, is an ac­com­pli­shed Hindu­stani clas­sical vocal­ist. Her father, Mool Raj Mathur, has been her guid­ing force in  pro­moting her talent. Raised in the US, Anand’s interest in wes­tern music is just as strong. Anand firmly believes in the heal­ing, thera­peutic qua­lities of music and its sign­ific­ance in the devel­op­ment of the intel­lect. Madhu Anand at­ten­ded two years of medi­cal school, works as a  Cer­tified Clini­cal Re­search Profes­sional and con­sultant in health­care/physic­ian educa­tion. Anand’s son and three daugh­ters (2 are MDs) are all deeply in­volved in vocal/instru­mental music & dance (Bhangra, Garba). They have per­formed with Madhu since child­hood.

Info: Hans Utter is an expo­nent of the prominent Imdad Khan gharana, an un­broken line of seven gener­ations which has made signi­ficant con­tri­butions to the develop­ment of clas­sical Indian music. As a dis­ciple of Ustad Shujaat Khan, son of the illus­trious sitar­ist Ustad Vilayat Khan. Hans has trained inten­sively in India for nearly two decades. Hans’ unique musical back­ground combines pro­fes­sional experi­ence in diverse styles includ­ing jazz, Western clas­sical, electro-acoustic music, and com­position. Hans holds a Doc­tor­ate degree in Ethno­musicol­ogy from The Ohio State Univer­sity, USA. He taught Ethno­musicology in The Ohio State Uni­vers­ity and Capital Univer­sity, USA for several years. He is a Teaching artist / Artist in residence, Ohio Arts Council and Research fellow at the Advancing Inter­disciplin­ary Research in Sing­ing. Hans has been impart­ing music les­son both in person and on­line for several years.
