She started learn­ing music from her mother Mrs. Bijoya Deb and later she learnt Indian class­ical music from Pandit Amiya Ranjan Bandyo­padhyay. She also got her training from Smt. Haimanti Shukla, Smt. Purabi Dutta, late Shri Sukumar Mitra, late Shri Biman Mukherjee in various genres of music such as Bengali modern/ Adhunik songs, Nazrul­geeti, semi-class­ical songs (Bengali songs based on ragas, Hindi bhajans, ghazals etc.). She has per­formed in India, United States and Canada including in all the renowned socio-cultural organ­izations of the Bengali community in GTA area. She also per­formed for “Bangla­desh tele­vision Canada”. She also obtained “Sangeet Prabhakar” title in recog­nition of her formal training in Indian classical music. She teaches vocal music to all age group, also takes Skype classes.

I have accom­panied on tabla with many clas­sical / semi-classical vocal­ists in India and in St. Louis for many years and accom­panied on the har­monium in St. Louis in the last ten years. Then I studied with two senior disciples of Ustad Allah Rakha Khan Ji, Sandeep Swadia and Aditya Kalyanpur for 7 years. I have taken work­shops from various other artists includ­ing Pandit Anindo Chatter­jee and Ustad Raghbir Singh Ji. I continue to learn through regular work­shops with Ustad Zakir Hussain.
