Misc. Info: Abhijit was born in a very recognized and respected musical family of Malda. Being the eldest son of musical talent of Mrs. Seema Baruri who took her most of her “Talim” from Pandit Gnan Prakash Ghosh and Sri Gopal Baruri, eminent tabla player of Malda- Abhijit got the sense of pure Indian classical music even before he took birth. He got his initial talim from his father from very childhood. Later Sri Gopal Baruri took him to the tabla maestro Sri Shyamal Bose. (The word “Pandit” was carefully avoided for this maestro, as he himself used to be furious hearing the same against his name. But we all know the fact). While residing almost every moment with Sri Shyamal Bose (Abhijit used to call him as “jathamasai”) for last 15 years with him Abhijit got the exclusive talim from him which made him a true researcher of this magical instrument.

Then started to learn steel guitar in Kolkata, with this continued learning sitar from Late Pranabanshu Mukherjee of Kolkata, these continued for more than ten years. Then started to learn violin from famous violin player of Kolkata – Smt. Sisir Kona Dhar Chowdhury. In this mean time learnt tabla from Late Sitanath Das. Performed in Doordarshan more than once and local TV channels, participated huge cultural programs. Famous for back ground music in the field of drama. Now, Amitabha Mukhopadhyay with violin is a renowned name.
