She is a dis­ciple of Sangeetha Kala Acharya Smt. Suguna Varadachari. She is a regular per­former at the pres­tigious December music Festival of Chennai where she has been giving suc­cess­ful per­formances year after year. Roopa teaches a few inter­ested and dedi­cated stu­dents (both kids and adults) of Carnatic music on Skype and in person in her Hong Kong residence.
