The
Bhakti Rasamrta Sindhu, or the “Ocean of the Nectar of Devotion”, is a
famous text by Srila Rupa Goswami written around the mid 1500s. It is a treatise
based on the code of conduct of devotees by Sanatana Goswami through his Hari Bhakti Vilasa. The overall book
explains the spiritual aspects of devotional service, forms of Krsna, guidelines of behavior, offenses to the Holy Name,
proper modes and methods of worship, rules and regulations in Deity worship,
process of installing Deities, how to celebrate various Krsna
Conscious holidays and festivals, and how to conduct spiritual ceremonies.
After understanding the basics of spiritual life given through the
Bhagavad-Gita, this book helps one conduct loving service to Lord in order to
achieve the ultimate and highest goal, love for Krsna.
While
Bhakti Rasamrta Sindhu is an elaborate text, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami has written a summary study through his
book “Nectar of Devotion.”
