Behringer FCB1010 Midi pedal Setup info - Guitar Rig Page 2I set up this page to help with my YouTube video belowI realize the YouTube video goes by very quickly and it may seem complicated Before you can use your FCB1010, you must calibrate the expression pedals Go to the Wiki Page here and read how to do that - Wiki FCB1010 page Back to the main Sound page |
Here's the direct link to my YouTube video - My YouTube video link |

The first thing you need to do is make sure you have a Midi controller set up This is my Windows 7 Device manager screen You can see that I have a M-Audio Midisport Uno set up I use the Midisport to send and receive midi signals from the FCB1010 to the computer and to control Guitar Rig |
- |
![]() |
After you have installed your midi controller, you need to turn On your Midi controller in Guitar Rig File - Audio and Midi Settings - Midi tab - Set the status to On The status is set to On for my Midisport Now guitar rig will recognize my FCB1010 when it is hooked up to my Midisport via two Midi cables I use Midi In and Out cables so I can send program changes to my FCB1010 via a .syx file I can also download the current .syx file in the FCB1010 so I can make changes in my FCB1010 editor program Next you have to add new controllers in Guitar Rig |
- |

Now that you have your midi device installed and turned on in Guitar rig, you have to add some new controllers to Guitar Rig Go To Options - Controller - Then click the Add Controller button A new controller appears in the left window |
- |
![]() |
Now you have to learn the new controller so Guitar Rig can install it Click the learn button on the new controller and then wiggle an expression pedal In this case I am wiggling the right hand expression pedal on my stock FCB1010 By wiggling the expression pedal, Guitar Rig finds that this controller is named CC#7 and that appears in the controller window Now CC# 7 expression pedal is now set up and ready to turn some knobs and sliders in Guitar Rig |

Here I have a preset with a Cry Wah and I want CC#7 expression pedal to move the Cry Wah slider back and forth Right click on the Wah slider and choose Learn Now wiggle CC#7 Expression pedal |
- |
![]() |
After you wiggle the expression the CC#7 expression pedal, a dialog box pops up (Unless you previously clicked the box to never show it again) Now look to the left side controller window and see that CC#7 expression pedal is assigned to the Cry Wah pedal Hit OK to close the dialog box This assignment is for this preset only You can assign the same CC#7 pedal to do something else in another preset So in another preset, CC#7 pedal can turn a volume knob or control the gain knob on a distortion pedal Or you can make CC#7 expression pedal do the same thing in every preset. See the info below about how to do that |
- |
![]() |
You can also make CC#7 expression pedal do the same thing in every preset Click on the Menu button for the CC#7 controller A menu opens up with a bunch of different selections If you click Lock at the top of the menu, CC#7 will be locked and do the same thing in every preset This is handy if you have the same Wah pedal in every one of your presets The disable Hold Mode or Enable Hold Mode is handy if you have the UNO stomp box chip installed in your FCB1010 The UNO chip turns 5 of the FCB1010 pedals into stomp box pedals and they no longer can select presets If you Disable hold mode - One press of a stomp box pedal turns on a button. The next press turns off the button. This is also called a latching switch mode. If you Enable hold mode - The button is only on as long as you keep your foot on the stomp box pedal The Guitar Rig button is on while your foot is on the pedal and the button is off when you take your foot off the pedal This is also called a momentary switch mode I use Disable hold mode for my stomp box pedals on my UNO FCB1010 |

So that's the basics on how to add controllers and then make them control things in Guitar Rig If you have the UNO stomp box chip in your FCB1010, you can also turn things on and off I have two FCB1010's in series One is a stock FCB1010 and one has the UNO stomp box chip installed If you look at the screen shot above, you can see that I have 9 controllers in Guitar Rig I have 5 stomp box pedals that send midi notes 120 through 124 Key 120 on through Key 124 on = Pedals 6 through 10 on my FCB1010 Key 120 on - pedal 6 turns the Octaver On and Off Key 121 on - pedal 7 turns my Cry Wah on and off So if you have the UNO chip installed you can then learn the stomp box pedals to click buttons And since I have two FCB1010's in series I have 4 expression pedals CC#27, CC#7, CC#28, CC#8 On the left parts of the screen you can see that I have 5 controllers added for the 5 stomp box pedals and I have 4 controllers added for the 4 expression pedals I have 9 controllers total added to Guitar Rig |

I recommend downloading my .syx file and then uploading it to your FCB to be able to follow along with my FCb1010 editor screen shots Download - This is a FCB1010 (Uno chip) .syx file you can use with Guitar Rig You can program the FCB1010 pedals and expression pedals using a FCB1010 editor It's way easier using one of these editors than trying to do it on the FCb1010 itself This page has more info on using Ed's editor - FCB_2.htm The screen shot above shows me using Ed Dixon's FCB1010 editor The link for Ed's program is on the main sound page - See the link at top of page In this example pedal #3 will change Guitar Rig to preset #3 via a program change You can change that number 3 to any number See the next example below |
- |
![]() |
In this screen shot I changed the number 3 to a number 36 Now stepping on pedal #3 will change Guitar rig to preset #36 So you can program the FCB1010 pedals to change to any preset you want using any pedal you want. |

Click on the image to see a larger image Ed Dixon's editor also has a spread sheet view where you can make lots of changes really quickly Once you have made all your changes in the editor, you have to use the Transmit SysEx button to send the program changes to your FCB1010 If you have a UNO chip in your FCB, you are done as soon as the Transmit .syx is done On a stock FCB1010 you have to do something else and I can't remember what that is. The editor program tells you what to do |
