Madurai N Krishnan

Guru(s) Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar, who paved the way for the kutcheri bani.  I did 18 years of gurukulavasa with him.

Favorite vocalist(s) from the past I have only listened to and meditated on my guru's music. Of course, there were a  number of stalwarts who lived for the sake of music  alone.

Favorite instrumentalist(s) from the past Karaikkudi Sambasiva Iyer (Vina)

Favorite vocalist(s) of the present day Everybody sings very well.  Only thing is, they do not take one profession.  Being multi-professionalists, some are not able to devote much time for music.

Favorite instrumentalist(s) of the present day Now-a-days youngsters are very intelligent and shine in all the fields they enter. I'm not able to point out anyone in particular.  Every body does well in his/her field.

Favorite composer(s) Ramanathapuram (Poochi) Srinivasa Iyengar

Favorite raga(s) Suddhadhanyasi

Favorite venue(s) Any venue with a good set of rasikas.

Favorite hobbies

I am a Srividya upasaka. Apart from the time I am connected to music, I spend  the rest of the time worshipping Srividya. However my favorite God is Ganapati.

Coming up next: Interview with Vainika Vidya Shankar, who is to receive the Mudhra Award of Excellence from Mudhra.
