This
installation was with Frontage Gallery, a temporary alternative window
space sponsored by the Santa Brarbara Arts Council in California. The
hanging sculpture on the left moved along a track on the ceiling. The
top was filled with rocks, the middle water and the bottom with chicken
feed. Everyday I would go down to the space and pull this
3 layered figure along the track, letting feed out into the trough for
the chickens to eat. On the back wall hung the “chicken menu:”
corn, sunflower seeds, and chicken mash. The piece evolved from thinking
about the transformative and consumptive power of organic materials and
processes.
